102nd Annual Bar Show

Experience Moo Court: Chicago’s Unique Legal Comedy Revue

The CBA’s musical comedy revue returns to the stage for its 102nd Annual Bar Show. This year’s show, “Moo Court,” promises wackiness, music, and more cowbell but less politics.

More than 50 CBA attorneys will perform in the annual rousing production that tackles the age-old question, “Did Mrs. O’Leary’s cow really start the Great Chicago fire?” The irreverent production ponders what really happened that fateful night in October 1871 and features many long-remembered Chicagoans, who will make appearances as jurors.

Audience members will enjoy watching the highlights of 2025, including Elon Musk and his Doge team, Taylor and Travis’ prenup, and, of course, the beloved Chicago Bears! The show will be filled with puns, Chicago humor, and a few jabs at local and national politics.

“Moo Court” is written and performed by a cast and crew of lawyers who also have backgrounds in music or theater and are supported by a professional band, director, choreographer, sets, lights, and projections. Many cast members are legal professionals by day and Chicago and community theatre performers, classical musicians, and opera singers by night!

The CBA’s famous “Bar Show,” formerly known as “Christmas Spirits,” has entertained audiences since 1923 when a few members decided to liven up an annual yuletide dinner with some comedy. What began as a single sketch has become a full-blown musical revue, all performed and written by a group of talented Chicago legal community members.

Tickets for this year’s show are on sale now. There will be a discounted dress rehearsal on Wednesday, January 7, at 7:00 p.m. and regular performances on Friday, January 9, at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, January 10, at 2:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Go to www.barshow.org for tickets or further information.
