A New Way to Connect

Post authored by Brandon Peck

Brandon Peck HeadshotWelcome to the 2018-2019 bar year and to the CBA’s @the Bar blog!  One of the YLS’ primary initiatives this year is the launch of our blog @theBar.  In today’s day and age when many of our conversations have gone online, our hope is that @theBar will be a new way for Chicago’s young lawyers to connect and develop a renewed sense of community. Our goal is to provide young lawyers and members of Chicago’s legal community with a new platform to share ideas, announce good news and virtually meet one another.

I hope you’ll take some time to peruse the excellent content our blog steering committee has diligently gathered in time for our launch.  Expect to see a wide variety of articles on topics ranging from artificial intelligence in the law to civil rights to lawyer wellness. The blog will also feature interviews with judges, profiles of young lawyer members, a civil procedure tip of the week, pro bono updates and much more.

I also encourage you to follow us via email by clicking the “Follow” button on the home page so you can continue to receive updates when new articles and announcements are posted.  It’s a great way to stay in the know about what’s happening in the local legal community and hear interesting perspectives from Chicago’s young lawyer thought leaders.

Finally, if you have an article or a piece of news you’d like to share with the legal community, please do not hesitate to reach out to us so you can join the conversation!

To learn more about what I have planned for the coming bar year, I encourage you to read my recent column, “I Look Forward to Working With You,” appearing in the July/August Issue of the CBA Record.

Thank you and enjoy!

Brandon E. Peck, 2018-2019 YLS Chair
