Register and Volunteer: Lawyers in the Classroom Program

The Edward J. Lewis II Lawyers in the Classroom program is seeking members to volunteer in second through eighth grade classrooms to help students to better understand the U.S. Constitution, our legal system, and law-related careers.

Attorney volunteers provide students with knowledge based on real-life experiences, help them develop their critical thinking skills, and offer young people an opportunity to interact with a variety of positive adult role models. Using the Lawyers in the Classroom curriculum and working with a partner teacher, attorneys provide authentic opportunities for students to learn about their rights and responsibilities under the law.

Paired with teachers in schools across Chicagoland, attorney volunteers are asked to visit their partner classroom a minimum of three times over the school year. Interested members can register for the upcoming Attorney Information & Training session. The one-hour session will prepare volunteers with teaching techniques for their classroom visits.

The 2019-2020 Attorney Information & Training session will take place on January 15, 2020 from 12:00-1:00 p.m. at the CBA Headquarters (321 S. Plymouth Ct).
