YLS Intellectual Property Committee Presents: Beer, Wine, Spirits and the Law

Post Authored by Kenny Matuszewski

“Without question, the greatest invention in the history of mankind is beer. Oh, I grant you that the wheel was also a fine invention, but the wheel does not nearly go as well with pizza.”

On February 5, 2020, the YLS IP Committee will host its signature “Beer, Wine, Spirits and the Law” seminar. The seminar will discuss intellectual property issues in the beer, wine, and spirits industry; clients’ perspectives on how intellectual property affects their breweries, and legislative and lobbying efforts in these industries.

Featured speakers include:

  • Shyla Jones: Of Counsel, Ice Miller LLP
  • Steve Soble: Owner, Burnt City Brewing
  • Ashley Brandt: Partner, Goldstein & McClintock LLLP
  • Bill O’Donaghue: Partner, Daley & Georges, Ltd.
  • Danielle D’Alessandro: Executive Director, Illinois Craft Brewers Guild

At the end of the seminar, beers from Burnt City Brewing and Greenstar Brewing will be available to sample. Law students; attorneys of all ages; and beer, wine, and spirit enthusiasts are encouraged to attend. MCLE credit will be available, along with the opportunity to learn how some of the world’s oldest beverages are prepared and sold.

Seminar takes place from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at The Chicago Bar Association (followed by a networking reception). Seminar is also live Webcast. Register at http://www.chicagobar.org/cle or call 312-554-2056.
