The Young Lawyers Section of the Chicago Bar Association will introduce its 2026-2027 Executive Council and Chair Aleksandra Petrovic at the YLS Annual Meeting on June 17th at the CBA Headquarters at 321 S. Plymouth Court. YLS Members will also be honored at the reception for their service and contributions throughout the year.
Petrovic is Of Counsel at Kellogg, Abrams, and Jovanovic L.L.C. She was previously an Associate Attorney and Partner at Damisch & Damisch, Ltd. Earlier in her career, she worked with the City of Chicago Department of Buildings General Counsel to help modernize its crane, masonry, and trade regulation codes. She was recognized by the Cook County Treasurer for her commitment and dedication to the Serbian American community through her participation with the Serbian Bar Association of America. Petrovic earned her J.D. from Tulane University Law School.
“I am very excited about the opportunity to serve as the 56th Chair of the Young Lawyers’ Section. This year, our YLS theme will be ‘One Profession, One Community’ as we work to bring together our entire bar association and the profession. I could not be more thrilled at the incredible group of people we have on our YLS Executive team this year, and I hope all of our members enjoy the wonderful events we have planned,” said Petrovic.

In addition to welcoming new leadership, the YLS will honor members who have shown outstanding project leadership and excellent committee service. Awardees include:

- The Rising Star Award for a Leader with Exceptional Promise: Joseph Nelson, DiCello Levitt
- The David C. Hilliard Award for Outstanding Committee Service: YLS Serving Our Seniors Committee, Eva Adams, Center for Disability and Elder Law, and Paige Fox, Fox Law LLC, as Co-Chairs
- Best YLS Seminar Award: YLS Transactional Law Committee, Megan Moran, Heston Morton, Chair, and Andrew Callas, Fox Rothschild, Vice Chair
- Most Improved YLS Committee: YLS Professional Responsibility Committee, Leonard Brahin, Holland & Knight as Chair, and David Fishbaum, Attorney at Law, Corey Rosenberg, Sarnoff Property Tax, and Whitney Jenkins, Neal, Gerber & Eisenberg as Vice Chairs

The YLS, founded in 1971, was created to encourage young lawyers to work together on projects for their community and for their profession. It provides excellent opportunities for professional growth, community service, and networking to its approximately 7,000 members, who include attorneys in their first 10 years of practice and law students. The YLS offers 30 committees (including substantive practice areas and public service offerings), implements member and public service projects, and hosts numerous seminars and networking events.
