It was a wonderful gathering of our members at the Union League of Chicago on June 25 for The Chicago Bar Association’s 153rd Annual Meeting. If you were unable to join us, click here to view the meeting.
With public confidence in institutions under strain, the judiciary facing increased criticism and scrutiny and technology reshaping the delivery of our legal services, the legal profession faces real challenges. It can feel as though the forces dividing us are stronger than those bringing us together. But I believe we are “One Bar.” We are stronger together than we are apart.
Our Association has always been one of the few places where lawyers from different backgrounds, practice areas, firms, organizations, and perspectives come together not as adversaries, but as colleagues. This year, the CBA will continue to provide opportunities to learn, to serve, to mentor, and to engage with important issues thoughtfully and respectfully while remaining committed to the rule of law, the administration of justice, and service to our communities.
My goal this year is to continue strengthening connections across our legal community. I hope to create opportunities for lawyers to learn from one another, build relationships across traditional boundaries, and engage constructively with the issues shaping the future of our profession. I want the CBA to remain a place where young lawyers find mentors, where experienced lawyers find renewed purpose, and where all lawyers feel that they have a place within our community.
I hope you will join us at an upcoming event like our CBA Golf Outing on 9/15, the Alliance for Women Kick Off Reception on 9/24, the Justice John Paul Stevens Awards Ceremony on 10/20, or the Lawyers In the Classroom Civic Education Celebration on 11/12. We are also planning an unforgettable CLE Abroad trip to Edinburgh, Scotland in May 2027. If you are interested in receiving more information, please click here.
On behalf of our CBA Officers and Board of Managers, thank you for your membership and your dedication. Together, I hope we can continue building an Association that brings people together, creates opportunities for service and leadership, and leaves the next generation of lawyers better than we found it.
Sincerely,

Trisha M. Rich
2026-2027 CBA President
