Committee Spotlight: Labor and Employment

Committee Name: YLS Labor & Employment Law Committee

Chair Information: David Weldon, Neal Gerber Eisenberg

Day of Committee Meetings: Last Thursday of each Month

Goals and Objectives for the 2018 – 2019 Year: The L&E Committee aims to continue informing attorneys of all ages and specializations on the most important topics in labor, benefits, and employment law.  We will continue to provide updates on salient topics, and bring in guest speakers who are experts in their fields.  We will also continue to host speakers to discuss the practical aspects of being an L&E attorney, from working with general counsel, to finding alternative careers within the L&E field.

Featured Speakers or Seminars:  The L&E Committee will host its annual seminar again in February 2019. Speakers are still to be determined.

Why should YLS Members join the Committee?: Laws impacting the workplace are constantly changing. In recent years, the interactions between employees, employers, and the law have become political flashpoints and are often in the news. From sexual harassment awareness, to disputes over minimum wage and overtime laws, the L&E Committee will continue to ensure that all attorneys—whether practicing L&E law or not—understand the most important changes in this field.

All Chicago Bar Association members are eligible to participate in committees at no additional cost!  Sign up for CBA and YLS committees by clicking here and begin to receive notices of upcoming meetings and events.
